Anyone own physical euros or swiss francs?
How would one go about owning physical foreign currency?
I have found a couple of places online that will wire foreign money to a new account at the best exchange rate, but I'm looking for cash money.
With a declining dollar with no upside in sight, this can't be a bad investment.

And I wear size 13 shoes.

I don't think the sky is falling, but there are other economies that are actually producing and manufacturing goods like a solid economy does instead of playing off of credit in the banking and financial sectors.

i know i parrot this all the time here, but why dont you just buy some physical gold and silver?

imho much better idea than buying another currency.

no country is going to allow their currency rise vs others since it hurts exports which is a bad political move.

actually; most "doomsday gurus" will advise that you have adequate non-interest bearing banknotes available; as during a financial squeeze; they might be accepted; especially if credit ,cheques, etc. are not honoured, but "emergency government regulations" disallow the use of precious metals..also; having physical possesion of gold and platinum; and not silver; may limit your ability to make smaller transactions..>>

I secured a bunch of physical gold and silver last week from apmex when gold was at 680-silly me didn't know everyone on the planet was so vested in PMs and would be selling to meet margin. I plan on buying even more this week-trying to dig into this dip.
I will begin buying more at 655 range-or setting a limit at half the previous days lows if the freefall continues.

I.E. if gold fell $10 yesterday, I will buy more once it comes back $5.
. I'm weary of all these false bounces going on. Gold and Silver are going back up sometime soon.

Undoubtedly, the currency of the future is not the dollar: The Euro will be it-especially if Russia signs on. I want to be on the list-not in line.

Actually, gold and silver are going to continue higher as long as the majority of people are still using words like "doomsday gurus".

If you are worried about being able to make transactions with precious metals, buy 90% bags of silver (the 64 prior silver nickels, dimes, quarters). These can be purchased from coin stores.

Most people havent made a penny since 2000 and are still holding same stocks, while people holding physical metal same period have earned 100-300% and holding underlying mining stocks have made 1000% +.

Nice to see you down here 8ate.

8, have you entered the cnbc challenge? If so, would like to see what you decided to buy...maybe I can make some coin selling short.

Falls, the euro has same problems as dollar. While it may appreciate vs dollar, the currency of the world will be gold/silver/precious metals as they cannot be completely controlled by corrupt govts and politicians.

What % of your portfolio is PMs? Alot of people say 20% is good; I think 50% minimum.

I've got a few bags of 90% coming in this week.

Id recommend holding much more than 20% in precious metals, but to each his own.

Anyone out of this sector is missing one of the greatest all time bull markets.

DAWOFFDADDY,
.
First off, thanks for all your post and expert advice over the years in the forums. It was your posts that woke me up and put me onto gold/silver a year and a half ago or so. I have since made a tidy some and I'm hopefully well positioned for the fiat collapse. Since then I have learned quite a bit about USD debt, federal reserve, etc.

What do you think are the chances of USG confiscating gold/silver once price gets to the very high levels many of us are expecting? I can also see them making it difficult to cash in trade pm's when the time comes with new big brother Real ID and other measures coming into effect.

For myself I have already purchased a crib outside of USA because of these and other concerns.

Nearly all the gold I own is outside the US, so I am not concerned with confiscation.

I keep reading about people worrying about gold being confiscated, but those same people dont seem to realize their wealth being held via us dollar holdings are being confiscated via govt running printing press 24/7/365.

Bought them for about $1,700. I bought them from Chase Bank. You cant buy them anywhere else except internet.

Exchange rate is 1279 dinars per dollar right now. Chase jacks up the exchange rate b/c they have a monopoly. Either u go long term on this or u do nothing at all.
